Teach-Ins are FREE to Members only

Farnham Angling Society’s (FAS) free Junior and Intermediate teach-ins are organised to help develop youngsters angling skills and abilities. 

FAS will supply all the bait and terminal tackle that you will need for the sessions. 

When attending any of these you must bring the following: FAS Handbook, Rod, Reel loaded with 12lb line (Carp) or 6lb line (General), Suitable landing net and Unhooking mat. 

Please book ASAP.

JUNIOR & SENIOR TEACH-INS

If you book in for an event, but then cancel and give less than 14-days notice, you will be blacklisted for all future FAS teach-ins: subject to the Executive Committee’s consideration of the reasons given.

Pike 'Teach-In' Dates & Information

THESE MUST BE ATTENDED IF YOU WISH TO FISH FOR PIKE ON ALL FAS WATERS – INCLUDING GUEST MEMBERS 

Please remember that to qualify for a ‘Pike Fishing permit stamp’ in your Handbook, you must arrive before the stated time of the teach-in session (times indicated below);

ATTENDANTS MUST PRODUCE AT THE TEACH-IN THE REQUIRED EQUIPMENT AS PER BYE-LAW 4.q ii a-h; (SEE BYELAWS ON CLUBMATE) OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TEACH-IN.

ALL REQUIRED TACKLE CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE PIKE TEACH-INS

PLEASE BRING PROOF OF YOUR CURRENT 2025/26 MEMBERSHIP

NON-MEMBERS ARE WELCOME, ALL WE ASK IS THAT YOU SUPPLY 2 RECENT PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOURSELF AND BRING TACKLE AS STATED ABOVE.

A PERMANENT PIKE TEACH-IN CARD WILL THEN BE PROVIDED PROVING YOUR ATTENDANCE

THESE TEACH-INS ARE OPEN TO ALL, EVEN IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED A TEACH-IN BEFORE 

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BOOK TO ATTEND A TEACH-IN, JUST COME TO ONE OF THE SESSIONS AS SCHEDULED BELOW

The sessions will be held at Swiftsure, Lower Weybourne Lane, Badshot Lea, farnham, Surrey, GU9 9LQ

q. PIKE AND PREDATOR FISHING. To protect Pike and other predatory fish in the society waters, a number of special Byelaws have been drawn up to cover fishing for these different species. These are:

 

i       Only members and guests who are in possession of a special 'PIKE FISHING STAMP' will be allowed to fish for Pike in Farnham Angling Society waters. These digital stamps will be available free of charge to all members who attend a 'Pike Teach-In' and satisfy Society Officials that they are in possession of the minimum suitable equipment to fish for and handle Pike when caught. Required equipment is detailed below. Dates and venues of the 'Pike Teach-in' can be found on the Teach-In posters shown on Clubmate.

 

ii        Suitable equipment will include:

 

a. Monofilament main line must have a minimum breaking strain of 15lb. Braided main line to have a minimum breaking strain of 50lb.

 

b. Wire traces must be a minimum length of 24 inches (60cm) and not less than 25lb breaking strain. No more than two semi-barbless or barbless treble hooks or two single barbless hooks may be used on any one trace.

 

c. Large knotless landing net with a minimum of 36 inch (90cm) long arms.

 

d. 12 inch (30cm) long artery forceps.

 

e.  Side cutters having a minimum length of 25cm (10”) and able to cut problem hooks when caught in the soft throat tissue or gill rakers.

 

f. An adequate Carp/Pike weigh sling.

 

g. A sensitive and effective bite detector system which shows 'drop back' as well as runs.

 

h. Wire traces for lures, plugs and spinners must be used, no less than 25lb breaking strain, a minimum of 24 inches (60cm) long and all lures, plugs and spinners must be barbless when Pike fishing.
